What's happening this spring season? Several FSN publishers provide their insider info on the key questions that matter to the real world of college football. Scroll down for the links to all the spring questions.

Q: How is Zach Line coming along?

From Laken Litman, http://smu.scout.com … Line played with a dislocated shoulder practically all last season, plus he injured his toe near the end and missed the last couple games, including the Compass Bowl. He had surgery on his toe and has been undergoing rehab for both injuries since December.

As of right now, Line has been cleared to run, but can't practice fully yet. It's a six month recovery period. He says he can do a bit of cutting, but nothing at full force. He has been out at every spring practice doing as much as he can, though.

His presence alone is invaluable as he is one of the team's main leaders and teachers. But it is important to note that this will be Line's senior season and he says he will be 100 percent ready to go by fall camp.

Is the quarterback situation finally settled?

SMU is eagerly awaiting the arrival of former Texas starter, Garrett Gilbert. Gilbert, who will graduate from UT this spring and enroll at SMU this fall in graduate school, is more experienced than any other quarterback the Mustangs have on their roster. This spring, underclassmen Conner Preston, Stephen Kaiser and Garrett Krstich are taking equal reps. But the feeling is that once Gilbert gets to campus, he'll win the competition over the aforementioned trio, plus incoming freshman Neal Burcham.

What’s the biggest insider storyline from this spring that the average fan should know about?

During the offseason, June Jones appointed two new position coaches in Jason Phillips (wide receivers/co-offensive coordinator) and Bob Palcic (offensive line). SMU's receiving corps is a bit undersized, but that is Phillips' specialty, so that group will be interesting to watch. The players say their goal is to be the No. 1 corps in the nation, which is not a farfetched idea as Phillips boasted that group at Houston last season.

The offensive line is extremely young and inexperienced with the exception of fifth year senior and starting center Blake McJunkin (sat out last year with injury). The Mustangs graduated all five of their starting linemen, so Palcic, who takes over where Adrian Klemm (now the OL coach at UCLA) left off. Palcic is a great technician, so it will be interesting to see how he develops a young crop of linemen who could be the key factor in the team's success next fall.
