With Ben Gottschalk sidelined with a back injury, and after spending a year getting leaner and stronger, freshman Kris Weeks is playing left tackle with the first-team offensive line this spring, and hopes to compete for the starting position in the fall. Weeks visited with PonyFans.com to discuss how he changed his physique, new offensive line coach Bob Palcic and his thoughts on how the Mustangs will replace five graduated starters from the 2011 offensive line.

I don't know a lot of people at any age who can overhaul their body, let alone doing it in one year at an age when many of us didn't show the most discipline or always make the best decisions. Sounds to me like we might have the makings of one big, smart, hard-working dude here.
