Beyond that, who stays and goes is very fluid. None of that has even started up, much less been put to bed. We were always going to run a few off, and probably have a few we want leave. Fluid

Last I heard we were screwed with three incomers about to bolt. Has that changed? Any chance we end up better off and, instead of being screwed, will end up net positive with either the new guys or even upgrades? Sure wasn't the tone on here last week if so.

Calm down, nothing is decided. None of the kids have even talked to the coach. Also, two of the '12 class are coming, and always have been, so long as Brown wants them. The one who isn't sure is Blaise, so they need to touch base. No definitive word on Jalen or Cannen either, as neither of those kids have sat w/coach. And no, you can't replace Jalen and/or Blaise by next season, just no bigs out there left.

We'll eventually end up net positive, cause any new staff will be snipers on the trail. You just prefer to cut dead weight, not the best parts of the roster. You retain the best, move on the rest, for you own kids. No offense, but talking hoops on the SMU boards is like pulling teeth. No one understands the process. Hell, at this point, most fanbases have moved beyond the delayed presser, and already need to know what's being done about the '12 class, and why we can't get Jank's deal to him in writing. This place is two days late and $2 short

No offense taken. I'm sure it's got to be frustrating, given your universe. Thanks for educating.

Not your fault, its just a fball school playing catch-up, now that we have a hoops-centric hire. I'm so far beyond the press conference, and into what's up next, I'm chomping at the bit. Need resolution on a ton of issues, several of which should have been handled before the weekend

Okay, now that that's out of the way, we've got a solid coach who probably has a pretty good budget for staff. I think he'll know how to utilize his talent. He'll know how to game plan. And he can sit in living rooms and say, I've won a National Championship, I've coached in the NBA, you want to come to a winner and learn how to make it to the NBA?
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I think he will bring in some better talent this year IMO.

There is no one left in '12, other than a few guards. There is no big even comparable to Blaise in '12 class, still available. There is very little out there that we can plug and play. Still need to gut a few ships, possibly for a transfer, and get an extra for the early period.

I know a lot can happen, but from Jalen's interview with p-fans, it seems that he wants to stay and learn from LB.

I think it is what it is for 12. Expect a ton of change for 13. I would guess the focus is immediately the current juniors who are either uncommitted (which isnt that many) or more likely talking with some committed to see just how committed. Also - get ready for some transfer magic.

HCIW is vital - but rest assured there is plenty of movement on it. announcements soon.

It feels like LB feels like he has one more thing left to prove. can you imagine what this guy can do if he is on-fire and has a really loyal team of really good recruiters? hang onto your seats.

my biggest concern is now our game presentation in the interim year before the Big east. We need to get serious about that - especially where our students sit, how we are doing in time outs. Lets go ahead and lose that score board right now, for example.

and the park cities Y games are cute and all - but we have a whole ton of new basketball fans arriving in 6 months - and if we throw bush league at them they will not be back. lets go hire a Kansas assistant AD for just basketball - and put them in charge of game presentation.

This program is gearing it up. This '13 cycle is going to be legendary in terms of transforming the roster. Pretty exciting stuff.

Are you already hearing good things about LB and the incoming staff in terms of recruiting?

Bradley Hayes is a 2012 big still on the board that is on Blaise's level (or better)- we just don't have a shot at him

You meant to say it will be legen....wait for it....dairy.

I'm sure LB will get some in name alone.

do not know if anyone caught it but in the informal conference with the press, Brown made a comment to the effect that all the current players were recruited for Conf USA and that was something that was going to have to be looked at. So I expect roster turnover at some point. We are so late in the game I expect we will be going with what we have for the most part next year.

Maybe, maybe not. If Jerrance Howard can bring in two of the 3 players he was recruiting at Illinois that would be a good start. Should make for an interesting summer for sure.
