Sasser Should Be On This Staff

Postby RE Tycoon » Mon Apr 23, 2012 10:24 pm

Great to see the Sasser interview, so thanks for getting that pony fans staff.

What is he doing these days? Any chance he'd be interested in a position on this staff? Maybe start out in an ops position and then move him up when he's ready? He is the living example of the dream we are trying to sell to DISD kids...go to SMU, stay local, get drafted in first round. He needs to be on the recruiting trail telling that story. Those years were the last time I had fun in Moody.

We don't do a good job of producing coaches in any of our sports, but I think bringing Sasser into the fold would be a great start towards rectifying that deficiency.

I have no idea what Sasser is doing these days but I'd love to see him on the staff in some capacity.

He even stated that he would be interesting to help in some capacity.

Hard to believe those Sasser/Davis teams never made it to the post season although we did have some pretty good games in the WAC tourney.

They played in one NIT game, lost to Southwest Missouri State, and had some cheerleader issues.

Thought the cheerleader issue happened at the WAC tournament in Tulsa one year......

Somebody needs to find out for sure so we can get as much dirt on him as possible and get comment on each and every indiscretion from his past. Way too many positive comments so far.

I believe it was Fresno. That was the same tourney where the Cheerleading Director got fired for getting way too hammered.

Correct - it was in Fresno and the same year as the NIT game. So all of that went down before the NIT game and is probably somewhat responsible for the egg laid in that game.
Pretty sure the charges were dropped. It was just a good ole fashioned drunken orgy featuring some players and cheerleaders...

I heard something along the lines that Sasser has gone into the ministry as either a 7th Day Adventist or something along those lines, and wasn't able to participate in organized sports events on Saturdays any more.

Don't forget that our own Gerald Lewis is the current Ops Director. I hope Coach Brown keeps this Mustang on his staff.
