Samarrippas out

Brown better know what he's doing....he's cut samarrippas, vilde, and norman so far. Shocked to hear about jeremiah....i hope he lands on his feet somewhere---this wasn't deserved at all.

If you can honestly say frog is a Big East type of D1 player then I admire your courage.

Like his passion. But he's better off in the Big south or Ohio valley conference.

Samarrippas out

Curious. Where does a new coach get his data to make the decision to cut a player? Film? Other coaches? Working him out?

I'm not happy about Jeremiah being let go. He represented us well and loved SMU. Not to mention that he worked his rear end off for our/his program. He represents what old school college athletics is all about.

On the other hand, this tells me we just got very serious about bball and it is tough not to get excited about that.

If Brown thinks he can do better and he feels we need to flip the roster to make the next level, who am I to argue with that. College basketball/athletics is a business and we better start treating it like one if we want to win.

Lastly, I want to throw out a huge THANK YOU to Jeremiah. You were one of the few things I looked forward to the past few years. You were fun to watch and worked harder than anyone on the floor. Jeremiah, you are the type of player I want my children to watch and learn from. No matter your weaknesses and short-comings, you worked harder than the next guy and earned it.

Thank you again and I hope you find a place that appreciates you more than SMU did.

While I cannot disagree with cutting ties with these players, a big thank you to all three especially JFrog is warranted. He contributed to one of our most gratifying seasons in years last year with the run in the CIT. Thank you JFRog and best of luck!

I am shocked that LB has moved so quickly, but I must confess that I think it is probably best, and a huge indication that LB means business.

I would also like to echo some of you and say a huge THANK YOU to J-Frog, who was exemplary as a member of the Mustangs, and I wish him well in the future.

I think this means two things:
1) we are real serious
2) we have some folks that want to come on in now

I like J Frog but anyone could tell that long term he was just taking valuable minutes from others. Hope he gets to play somewhere. Should make the rest of the team understand they are somewhere valuable. Vilde always looked good to me but his minutes reflect something i wasnt getting apparently. Never really got Norman.

wonder what LB has up his sleeve? Three open spots for next year? who is even available to fill those?

Damn, sad to see these guys go, but this is definitely the downside of seeing Larry Brown taking this seriously. Might be a stupid question, but are these guys losing their scholarships for this?

He played hard and was, seemingly, a team player but realistically, he should never have been more than a team manager in a Division I program. Him being a starter just shows you how low we had sunk. I wish him luck, too.

Uh, it's Larry Brown. I'm pretty sure he's qualified to judge basketball talent.

Yes, they are renewed on a yearly basis. I'm sad to see Frog go too. Great post smupony. This is big boy D1 Athletics though, these things happen when a new coach takes over. Happens all the time. I know it's not the same as letting go kids already on your roster but Doh didn't keep all of the Tubbs incoming recruits either. Just Alex Malone if I remember correctly. He was run off a year later anyway.

Best of luck to those three, especially j-frog, but I have no issue with this. Interested to see who is on the way.
