This may be a stretch but...Anyone notice that Tate Wallis' name is the reverse(besides one letter) of former SMU President WILLIS TATE. Tate was on of our best presidents ever, and a huge football fan (Varsity 1931, all conference tackle, one of SI's silver Anniversary All-American Honorees, and namesake of the Tate lecture series). Do I smell destiny? The evidence is just too hard to ignore.....OK so maybe I have too much time on my hands, but it is interesting, nevertheless.

I don't know Grider...that is a bit much don't you think? _____________________________________

Re: This may be a stretch but...Wallis does seem to have some kind of destiny or good fortune working in his favor. There's just something about the kid that's impressive. I don't care how talented his receivers were at Ennis - leading a team to a state championship in Texas is a very impressive deal. And watching spring ball, the team really seemed to rally around him in the huddle. He seems to have a General's command of his troops. Too bad he was playing another position last year, because he certainly could have used an extra year of throwing to our receivers - but he's going to be a very successful quarterback before he's through.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one to make the connection. Anything to pass the time until Aug 31st. ... _ _ .._
