UL looking at conference options

Louisville looking at other conferences
My apologies if this has already been posted but this article along with the story that Florida St is looking at options, due to their disapproval of the new ACC tv contract, could be problems for the BE. According to friends in Louisville, UL wants out of the BE badly. It is just talk but no one thought the Aggies would go to the SEC either.

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich has informed the Big East board of directors that his school is looking at its conference options, ESPN.com reported. Jurich reportedly told the Big East that Louisville would prefer to be in the Big 12 or ACC. Louisville was the runner-up in October during a heated competition with West Virginia to join the Big 12.

The Big East was the sixth ranked conference before. There will be a sixth ranked conference after.Might as well be the same one. This isn't rocket science. Schools aren't going to wake up and say, "Gee, let's get back in with CUSA which is now the Sun Belt!"

Better start looking into the ACC--Big East has outperformed this conference in football for several years. I know there is alot of talk about the Big East, but it is ACC football that comes up on the short end of the stick...

From a football standpoint, unless your school is in one of the big four conferences it is going to be a bumpy ride for sometime. With the fight for TV markets, recruiting exposure and money grab, it would appear when the dust is eventually settled college football will end up with four major conferences consisting of 16 teams in each. Then again, these s.o.b.'s are so greedy I would not be shocked to see the whole thing implode.
I guessing the latter based on the history of mankind to want it all only to see it fall apart or torn apart.

When the Missouri to SEC rumors started, I came on here and stated repeatedly that there was NO WAY the SEC could possibly be interested in Mizzou and it wasn't going to happen. Accordingly, I have no credibility on this subject. . .BUT, why UL? They may want out of the BE, but I find it hard to believe the Big-12 would court them. They bring very little to the table football-wise. As crazy as it sounds, I see the Big-12 making a run at a school like FSU as more likely than UL.

But then again, I clearly don't know anything about this stuff. I think it must be because I am trying to apply basic logic and common sense to a totally absurd process.

Which has me thinking. . .maybe the right question to ask is not what is in the best interest of the school, the conference, and god-forbid, the student-athletes. Maybe the question I should be asking is "How would this go if it were a Monty Python sketch?"

no need to look that deep. simply ask yourself one question - will a move by team x into conference y make that school more money? Will it make the other conference schools more money by increasing the contract payout?

If you get a "yes" on both, the school is moving. If you get a no, chances are they are staying put.
