Thursday - Rice lost at Hawaii (boy, Hawaii just doesn’t lose at home)
Last night - Rice lost at San Jose, UTEP lost at La Tech and Fresno won at Nevada
UTEP (7-2)
Nevada (7-2)
Fresno (6-3)
Rice (5-4)
La Tech (5-4)
SMU (4-5)
Hawaii (4-5)
Boise (3-6)
San Jose (3-6)
Tulsa (1-8 )
The two games we should have won (La Tech and UTEP) really hurt now. We would be tied for second with UTEP and Fresno at 6-3 and one game back of Nevada for first. Oh well......

Win those close games and it's a diff story. Playing smart down the stretch and hitting FT's. @ Rice, La Tech, and UTEP.
WAC is same story every year. Thank goodness we don't have to go to Hawaii anymore for a conf. game.

looks like it will be 35 years without an NCAA Tourney bid for the great Rice Owls.

I would not count out Rice in the WAC tourney.

Now you know why our lack of ability in FT shooting makes me crazy. I was proud of the way Roberts hit his in the close of last nights game, but everybody has to be able to do it.

If Pearson continues to progress and everyone gets healthy, watch out for those wild-ass Mustangs!

Rice must be disappointed in their season so far, 10-7 and 5-4 in the WAC. Only one game better than SMU, but Rice was supposed to be a contender.
The problem with the WAC tourney is its in Reno. Huge advantage for a good Nevada team. Too bad it wasn't at Tulsa this year. That would be basically a neutral court as bad as Tulsa is playing.

Good point, HF. I am very optimistic about getting the C-USA tournament in Dallas. With Dallas, Houston and N.O., C-USA has some great choices for the tournament.

I hadnt even thought about where the CUSA tournament would be. Has it been announced for next year yet? I suppose Memphis would be the big favorite for ticket selling purposes, maybe Birmingham too. Would love for it to come to Dallas, but I don't think the AAC is an option financially. And I don't know how Moody would look to conference officials for hosting the league showcase. We need to renovate that bad boy, its tired.

Don't forget Reunion Arena. Maybe the AA is too big, but Reunion would be a great place for the WAC tourney.
Just send 'da money.

Don't forget Memphis, they'll certainly put up a stink if the Tourney isn't there once in awhile. Tulsa also will want the game now and then. Houston, Orlando, Raleigh. I think it might come down to sponsorship. If we get the Disney World CUSA championship, then it will be in Orlando. If we get the Bethlehem Steel CUSA Championships it will be in Birmingham. If we get Fed EX CUSA Championships it will be in Memphis. If it is the Southwest Airlines CUSA Championship it could be in Dallas. I think the sponsorship of the tournament and the site of the tournament will go hand in hand. If I'm each school, I would be looking for a way to get a big name and $$$ sponsor for the Tournament for a three year committment and thus force the tournament into their city. And if I'm Briton Banowsky, I would be suggesting that sponsorship be added to the evaluation criteria.
