Re: AD Candidates... Anyone...?
How about John Montgomery? Former assistant at SMU, has connections to Turner, friends with Larry Brown?
Last I heard, he was at North Carolina. Google seems to think he runs the Rams Club (and why does UNC use a ram as its mascot? Is there a story there?

If one did not know the facts or read the notes, the Vanderbilt AD pay would seem very odd.

Didn't Vanderbilt get rid of the Athletic Director position a few years ago and place athletics under the control of the Dean of Student Life or something. It was an experiment that was widely discussed with predictions of doom*
*guess I didn't read the Notes either

How about our own Tim Leonard???? He has served his apprenticeship under Orsini, knows all the mistakes Orsini made and tangled with Orsini over the handling of Larry Brown, is highly regarded by the C of C and Athletic Committee, a known quantity, highly regarded by the AD staff....etc. I say we have our guy already on board and it is time to give him a shot. He has paid his dues.

Not to derail the comedy hour, but what characteristics are most important for a candidate?
To me:
--> Experienced D-I athletic director
--> Experience negotiating television contracts
--> Proven track record of marketing a university to a major city with sports entertainment options
--> Big-time fundraiser
