Re: AD Candidates... Anyone...?
(never mind-I forgot he took North Carolina job late last year) I wouldn't be opposed to giving Tulsa AD Bubba Cunningham an interview. Assistant AD at ND (15 years at ND), worked his way up at first Ball St and has been at Tulsa now for 7 years. I thought it was impressive that he spearheaded the refurbished Football stadium at such a small school. Had more success in Football than SMU.

Please do not make Doherty the AD! However, since we have to shell out $500K for him for another year, have him get his butt out there fundraising. He's a big BS artist and a great glad hander. Put him out on the road to earn his money for a year, then let him return to the broadcast booth.

Vanderbilt elimnated the AD Position. Vice Cancellor David Williams serves as the head of Athletics, plus other duties University Affairs, General Counsel and Secretart to the University.

To me:
--> Experienced D-I athletic director
--> Experience negotiating television contracts
--> Proven track record of marketing a university to a major city with sports entertainment options
--> Big-time fundraiser
What a shock to the system that would be after the Orsini years.

Last I heard, he was at North Carolina. Google seems to think he runs the Rams Club (and why does UNC use a ram as its mascot? Is there a story there?
http://www.ramsclub.com/ViewArticle.dbm ... ID=1306080
Back in the 20's, UNC decided that Carolina needed a mascot like N.C. State's Wolf and Georgia's Bulldog. At the time, Jack Merrit, known to his fans as the "Battering Ram," was a popular member of UNC's football team. Making use of this nickname, UNC hit upon the idea of a ram as the Carolina mascot.
They ordered UNC's first mascot from Texas.
The mascot, who was named Rameses, arrived in time for the UNC vs. VMI game on 8 November 1924. Carolina fans credited the first Rameses' presence for pulling Carolina past VMI, and giving birth to the long line of rams who have witnessed Tar Heel games.
