Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUJust goes to show that JJ's recruiting staff is far more active and national than many members of this Board realize. Notice his nice high 3.71 GPA.

Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMU
Activity of the coaches instant going to be the issue going into the Big East but caliber of player will. With that being said it does look like the is shaping up to be a good CUSA class. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUi wonder which of Nate's relatives played for JJ 25 yrs ago?
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUFront of SMU Rivals lists him as one of the "top prospects" from Oregon...really? a 2 star?
2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUWe see it every year. Players who were relatively unknown, and therefore unranked or under ranked, get a bump in the rankings after more schools get in on them and/or after a strong senior season. The rankings of the computer geeks mean almost nothing this early.
Welcome to SMU, Nate! I really shouldn't drink and type.
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUThe Grant connection continues...he is a fast talented kid....good job. Welcome to Nate.
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMU
For those unfamiliar with the Rivals' spring rating system, let me provide a primer on the subject. 5-star: Kid was All-State his junior year and threw for 3,5000+ yards, or was All-State and ran for a combined 4,000+ yards his sophomore and junior years. A "can't miss" (until he misses, of course) blue chip prospect. 4-star: Just like a 3-star, but coach got me so waaaaaaaysted last night while in his office looking at prospect's home videos on YouTube. 3-star: Well-known regional talent / Friday night local hero. Prospect's father owns Handi-cam with zoom and has better than average editing skills. 6-pack included in UPS package with video. 2-star: Just like 3-star but without zoom feature on prospect's father's Handi-cam. Submission did not include beer or even Cheetos. Still, I gotta give the kid some kind of rating. OR, NR recruit that just received scholarship offer from June Jones. Pending bump to 3 or 4 stars once other recruitniks jump on this kid's bandwagon. 1-star: Top 2 or 3 athletes statistically from local high school. I think the local paper listed this kid on the Area Top 100 list; I sure wish I could remember the "safe place" I stashed that edition of the sports page so I can re-tweet the information and make it look like I've actually seen and evaluated the prospect. NR: Not on drinking terms with prospect's high school coach. Prospect and/or prospect's father does not know my website exists. Has not received offer from June Jones. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUFor those trying make Rivals a scapegoat or ridicule Rivals or whatever, I think most people now are looking at quality offers. Especially if they are from a fairly well know high school. Again, I think this class may end up being a good CUSA class but I don't think we are ready for Bama yet like some would have us to believe.

Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUWelcome to SMU, Nate!
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMU
His buddy Acker played as a frosh and started as a sophomore at SMU. Let us not be to judgmental when you have no clue about a kid when making your uninformed comments.
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUstallion can count to 5 but he almost never has to go past 3.
Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMU
Acker is a good CUSA corner. I do not know how he would fair in a BCS conference week in and week out (and neither do you). Just because you start at SMU does not make you a high caliber BCS player. We just have to see how things pan out once he gets here and we hit the Big East. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Nate Halverson commits to SMUAcker was one of the most improved players last year, and he was just a sophomore (who didn't redshirt, I believe). If Halverson is anything like Acker, I'll take guys like that any day. Congratulations and welcome, Nate!
