Even in the pros no player loses the title of "starting quaterback" due to an injury. They usually lose it due to performance :!: :D

Yeah, tell that to Drew Bledsoe (Tom Brady), or local boy Tommy Madox (Ben Rothlesberger). Or whoever that guys was in Green Bay who got hurt years ago in the game before Brett Favre began his record streak.

Do I understand this thread? Chris is now 6'2" and 240lbs and is not fat? WOW, that is a really, really nice size for a sophomore QB.

Should I get excited? A QB with that size and if he still has the speed he showed in his freshman year, I will get excited.
Just send 'da money.

Thanks Damone... I couldn't come up with the name, and decided not to look it up because part of my point was it doesn't really matter who the starter was before Favre... but, uh, remind me not to play Trivial Pursuit against you any time soon.

(The only name I could remember was Vince Workman, of course he was the running back that year, and not really an answer to any trivia question... how in the heck do I remember the name Vince Workman? I was 14 in 1992... and a Cowboys fan! Vince Workman?)

I've always gotten a little squeamish when coaches say "I don't know what position is his best position, he's just a football player." But Phillips is a guy who I believe fits that bill. Yes, I'd like to see him line up at QB. But if Romo or Eckert sets the world on fire in the spring and 2-a-days, I do believe Phillips is a guy who could play at another position. He seems to have such a natural feel for the game, and his athletic ability seems to exceed his size and his 40 time.

Am I completely nuts to think that with more size and strength, he and Andrew McKinney could be interesting DE candidates?

Played some IM basketball with Chris, definately heavier than last year but not 240. maybe 225, 230 max...conditioning seemed a little off, hands on his hips bending over during the game. Though I shouldn't say anything about people being out of shape.

I love how hardly any of you know what in the hell you are talking about. You read one thing from very BIASED DMN writter and that gets all of you back on the Phillips band wagon. Besides writting on here, do any of you actually know what is going on up at Ford Stadium...my guess is PROBABLY NOT! If you knew any boys on the team you would know that Phillips has NOT been in the weight room and was rarely around when he was "injured" last season. He is heavier, but that is not muscle. We need people who are dedicated to this program, not someone who shows up when it is convenient. Yall are ridiculous. We had a good season last year, with some definant signs of improvement. Did we have that when Phillips was around? Start supporting our STARTING QUARTERBACK, which is Eckert (not phillips) and support ROMO.

I will say that I do KNOW, that Romo and Eckert were there during almost every summer workout. As I also KNOW that Phillips was not. Where is his committment to his teamates?

Thanks Mrs. Eckert. I shouldn't say that, you are probably just someone random with an axe to grind. Its very conspicuous to bag on Phillips and then say support Eckert and Romo. And you're a newbie to the board, which means extremely casual fan (but you hang out at Ford in your spare time?), relative or close friend of said player.

Thats the great thing about America, anyone including Watkins and the DMN can say anything they want! Doesnt mean its true but hey its kinda fun to fantasize and that what it is --- a fantasy. Phillips would be much better suited at TE. He may have a future there. If the OL improves Eckert will do very well and Phillips would catch a few balls. If the coaches insist on Phillips at QB they should redshirt him (which they can do this year) and let him watch. Whoa Nellie you Phillips dreamers are funny. :D

This guy reminds me of Richard Bartel's buddy that used to get on here all the time.
