Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMU
Me too. Welcome!
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUWondering if he'll too end up transferring to Eastern Washington...
An SMU fan from the other D.
Re: Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMU
I just don't trust recruiting till they sign. Its too early to get really excited or depressed about things. I am positive about this kid, however, and hope he sticks with us! He has some good offers.
Kolney Cassel commits to SMUHe only has offers from ivy league schools, not what I would call good athletic offers. He may be the greatest qb in smu history but we are the only fbs team that offered.
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUThought he had Washington and Washington st.
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUNo other offers. Washington St. Washington and Oregon St have all offered 4-5 other QBs and he is down the pecking order. BTW-two of those schools have offered Texas QBs. Just to make it easier-none of our kids have BCS offers-heck none have offers from strong programs

Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUIt should be interesting to see if at least half the class has at least one BCS offer when it is over. I would think we have about 20 scholarships for this year. I would think 10 players could have BCS offers.

Well now, let's just complete the story (are half truths still lying?) Per Rivals, May 30. 2012: Washington State--has no QB commits, it has two active (not committed to another school) Pro Style QB offers out, but one is favoring Alabama and the SEC and the other is not rated (oh, he is the one from Texas--no stars). WSU has a grand total of 2 commitments, that's right two! Washington--has no QB commits, it currently has no active Pro Style QB offers out having lost out all other offers to other schools. Washington has six commits. Oregon State--has no QB commits, it has only one active Pro Style Qb offer out to a non-rated QB--no stars. They do have two offers out to Dual Threat Texas QB's, DeVonte Kincade (SMU offer) and Dominion Hobbs. But, even more impressive, at the end of May, Oregon State has no commits, that's right none! Zilch! Nada! Not one at any position! Can you imagine this Board under the same circumstances? Our commit has a rating of 5.6 the highest rating of any QB commit since June's arrival, only exceeded by that "Rock of a Commitment", the Printz father and son decomit at 5.7. The truth is some schools just didn't pursue for a variety of reasons including his early and strong interest in SMU and some due to his location hadn't seen him play. Others? Who knows? But what is certain those three schools aren't waiting for higher rated Pro QB offers to fall by the wayside-they have. Welcome to SMU Mr. Kassel! Kolney Cassel commits to SMUWe have had 5.7 and 5.8 recruits before. 5.6 is pretty standard, we have had quite a few of them.
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUYour right, I was correcting it as you posted. I meant to write, that he is the highest ranked QB commit since June's arrival.
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUAgain Mexmustang they all have FOUR to FIVE QB OFFERS out whether they be listed as Pro-Style or Dual Threat QB -what the hell does it matter. Each school has at least TWO or THREE outstanding offers out to uncommitted QBs not named Kolney Cassell from their backyard. He's down their pecking order. That's the story. Not your usual [deleted], kiss-June Jones lazy [deleted] crap.

Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUHello SMU fans,
My name is Jerry Mercado and I've spent a ton of time not just breaking down tape of Kolney but the top QB prospects in the State of WA. There is a Westside bias in this State. Therefore is you don't come from the Westside (Seattle area) you won't get the attention you deserve. This has been a problem in this State for years and Kolney is from the Eastside of the State (Yakima). After reviewing tapes of Max Browne(Skyline), Sefo Liufau(B-Prep) as well as others. Kolney was the one that stood out to me. A lot of these guys including Browne come out of systems taylormade for putting up Madden like numbers. Remember Jake Heaps? Kolney gets the ball out of his hands, has a great arm and has precise accuracy. He broke the passing yards record which was set by Drew Bledsoe and it would have been shattered but he missed a game. Kolney Cassel is the best pure passer in the State period. You guys are getting a steal of a deal!! I will have full analysis of my breakdown of all of these quarterbacks out of the State of WA. I will post here when I'm done. Thanks
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMU
Thanks Jerry.
Re: Kolney Cassel commits to SMUAlso remember that Yakima is in the central middle of nowhere and he simply gets no traditional publicity or exposure. This is why JJ and staff get the big bucks to make a high % of good evaluations. Thus far, their track record has been good. Welcome Kolney and I too would want to escape from Yakima at all costs. Only thing I would miss is the Black Angus Stake House if it is still there.
