Garrett Gilbert's younger brother was a pretty solid receiver for Lake Travis, too.
Any word on him, or is he a junior?

Hard not to believe he will step into that Cole Beasley slot.

Lagasse was a nice pickup. He was like Wes Welker in high school and could see him do similar things in college. Watch and see, he is going to make SMU proud.

He is going to have to beat out some good competition IMO. It will not be handed to him.

I was actually thinking Ronnell Sims would be the next Cole Beasley. I do think Colin will do well.

I agree. I'm on board the Lagasse bandwagon in a big way. If he and Gilbert have been throwing already, it wouldn't be surprising if he's GG's "security blanket" receiver from day one.

I know most are comparing him to Beas because both are white and about the same size but I want the best player out there on the field. I hope there is enough competition at slot to reshirt him. If not we have depth problems at slot.

It will be hard for him to see the field at SMU while GG is still playing QB here. I'm not saying he won't have a good career at SMU. I just dont expect him to make that much of an impact during his first two years on campus.

So many SMU fans are used to having such a bad team/program that they think freshman will automatically need to play and contribute. We are finally at a point where we have the luxury of red shirting most incoming freshman. Not all these freshman need to see the field right away, unless we have a glaring issue at certain position or the freshman is an absolute stud. Last couple years I have seen so many posts writing off guys as bad players because they have not contributed yet by their sophomore year. Good programs have players "come out of no where" to be starters and great players in RS JR or Senior seasons.....you will start to see that more here.
