I know we speculated, but can't remember if we ever got confirmation, about reduced capacity in the makeover.
At any rate, the SMU Magazine thst came in the mail in the last couple of weeks has a writeup that quotes Tim Leonard in a statement about reducing capacity to 7500 as a result of the makeover.

Reducing the capacity is a great thing. Even in the Big East, many of the teams have smaller "home" arenas available than you would think. UCONN - Gample 8,200-10,000 (depending upon how it is set up) St John - Carneseca - 5,600 Rutgers - Louis Brown Athletic Center - 8,000 If and when SMU is filling up Moody again, we can do what those schools do and move games to a bigger venue. Smaller is better.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

What are they going to do about graduation? I remember the place was packed for mine at the current capacity.

It was going to be at the old bakery site but it has Now been delayed. SMU did not want the students crossing Mockingbird Lane.

The old Mrs. Beard's Bakery site will be the new tennis center with the current Mockingbird strip mall relocated across a new plaza/street from the tennis centers. To my chagrin the tennis center will back up to North Central which I think is a mistake; however, the shape of the land may mitigate against another layout.

the tennis people are lucky there even is a tennis center. we haven't been good at it in a long time, and nobody cared about it even when we were good. Its a dying sport. should drop it and pick up lacrosse - a growing sport.

I hope the tennis courts are oriented north-south to reduce the number of tennis balls hitting cars on Central.

Drawing I saw had six outdoor courts along mockingbird and an indoor facility with, I assumed, 6 indoor courts just south of the outdoor courts.

I'd think the architect SMU uses is capable of designing a tennis facility capable of containing tennis balls.
