I would say that TCU got multiple players last year that moved the needle as far as the national recruiting profile for TCU (Devonte Fields, Tyler Matthews, etc). I haven't seen any improvement in TCU's recruiting after joining the Big 12. In fact, after TCU joined the Big 12, the School lost talent from decommits (Daje Johnson & Edward Pope) and then had a slow finish to the 2012 class.

This is an SMU site and all so this will be my last post on this thread. I have no idea how this year's class will compare to last year's until they play. All players are paper tigers until proven otherwise. What I do know is that historically, TCU was unable to recruit at some of the schools they are recruiting at now. The move to the Big12 has made that possible. They are starting to lay the foundation to build pipelines to these schools which can help them reel in bigger names in future years.

TCU is also competing for some of the biggest names in the State whereas in year's past they would not be on the list at all. There is a definite improvement there. Plus, TCU is still in the running for some pretty big names and may lead for one guy who is top 10 in the State for this year's recruiting class. Not to mention they are starting to build a brand out of state. This class may not be full of big names, but there is plenty of quality and potential.

Also, look for next year's class to be a strong one as TCU will not be starting late like they were this year. TCU has already offered more players for next year's recruiting class then they have ever in the past. So i will finish with just saying don't look at any one year in isolation for comparison. Look at the trend that is occurring.

You say that TCU got a bump in recruiting from joining the Big 12. But except for listing highschools that TCU is recruiting in and talking about some big names that TCU might get in the future, you don't really offer any evidence that TCU's recruiting has improved as a result of conference affiliation. I conclude that you really don't know what you are talking about.

I guess I pointed that out because, if TCU wasn't seeing an aggressive bump despite Big12, Rose Bowl, Andy Dalton, two Top 10 finishes, maybe we should tone down our "Big East Bump" expectations. We still should be recruiting against UCF and Houston but maybe it takes a lot more than a BCS conference to start catching the imagination of four-star, Texas Top 50 players.

Guys there is a natural pecking order in Texas football recruiting
Texas
A&M
Everybody else

So TCU may get lucky and discover another LT or Baylor another RGIII but generally the B12 talent will be going to UT , A&M, OU.

Sorry guys but SMU is best to be highly competitive in the BE or ACC where we can get national exposure outside Texas and increase our student applicant pool.

I assumed that you already knew that TCU's recruiting class this year is ranked higher than the one from last year. I even mentioned TCU's current ranking at #27 (now #28) by Rivals in my original post. Then, I do you the courtesy of answering your question with specific reasons for this improvement and you have audacity to tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I sure hope you are trolling me because if not that makes You either an idiot, lazy or someone who was not raised right. Regardless, your bad manners are exceeded only by your bad manners.

Real question on this thread: What position does Stallion hold in the UT PR department? And how can I sign up for his job? I'd like to spend all day trolling message boards on the taxpayer's dime.

TCU's recruiting profile this year has been typically 3 star recruits many of which are among the top 100 or so players from the state. This is exactly the same profile as TCU's classes from the previous years. What is missing from TCU's class are the national recruits that they have gotten in the past. TCU's current class doesn't have any players like Devonte Fields, Jordan Moore, Casey Pachall, Tyler Matthews, or Waymon James. Their recruiting this year has not gotten any Big 12 bounce. And sorry if you are offended if I said that you don't know what you are talking about, but I'll stand by that.

Neither TCU nor SMU has gotten any bump at all from changing conferences. SMU's recruiting is looking bad right now and the strategy of using Klemm to recruit california has back fired terribly. If I were Jones, I'd be looking at Jucos right now and trying to establish relationships in Texas high schools for the future.

I guess Thad needs to weigh in on this. I seem to remember Eric saying something about UT offering him stuff and he wouldn't take it, and how he still hates UT to this day. But perhaps I remember incorrectly. Thad am I right or is Stallion right or are both of us wrong?
