TCU Recruiting Class Sprints To Finish Line or JCin one of the best closing weeks for non-BCS schools in recent years TCU added a 4th academic questionmark-this time the "big-fish" DT we are all looking for in DT Lorenzo Jones (6-4, 294) McKinney who had been committed to Nebraska. Jones is a 3 star 5.7 rated and the No. 29 player in Texas and fell to TCU because the Big 12 sets strict limits on non/partial qualifiers. TCU in the last week swooped in and basically got all the kids the Big 12 couldn't take. Again, whether you like it or not if they get in by August 1 TCU has beaten us badly in recruiting-plus you've got to add in the two LSU transfers and other Division 1A transfers.

It sure looks good for the froggies right now, but if they don't qualify or don't maintain academic eligibility, what good does it do? I would rather get the guys that we know will or have qualified and will maintain the academics and be players, than to take the risks, give a ship and then not have anything to show for your efforts and expense.
Also, how are they doing this? Something just doesn't look right in cowtown. Just send 'da money.
Re: TCU Recruiting Class Sprints To Finish Line or JC
Can you name the other 3. Thanks Stallion.
Stephen Hodge, Corderra Hunter, James Price and now Lorenzo Jones. Price and Hunter were former TT commits. Hodge, Hunter and Jones were all Top 100s and Price was rated 5.4 but with numerous offers.

after reading the official TCU list you may need to add 2 more players to the academic questionmark list. TCU also got signing date switches in commitments from Aaron Brown(previously committed to Kansas) and DE Chris Jones (previous OSU commit). Now you can believe that TCU outrecruited the Big 12 to get switches in commitments from players previously committed to Nebraska, Oklahoma St, Texas Tech, Kansas Texas Tech again and also Hodge who backed away from Big 12 schools ALL IN ONE WEEK or you can see the handwriting on the wall-that these kids could not be admitted to the Big 12 because of their policy. Let me say I really have no proof as to Jones and Brown but then again I wasn't born yesterday. BTW Brown apparently had the fastest non-wind-aided time in the 100 M last year in Texas. If TCU gets them in it is an EXCELLENT CLASS.
Past recruitsIf TCU has gotten that many question marks, it reminds me of what Baylor used to do in the 80's/90's. They always had top recruiting rankings in February, even if by August it didn't pan out. I wonder if MWC has any issues with partials & how the kids pay for school that first year(don't believe you can give scholarships to partials).
Re:
It's not "Price". All of those kids will most likely qualify. All have the grades and are working on getting their SAT/ACT scores. Grade issues are much harder to overcome unless you just don't have it and these kids do not fall into that category. Hodge has already qualified and supposedly so has Hunter.
Right its James Pierce. We'll see om Hodge and Hunter. I agree-usually they are the kids who just need another shot at a better SAT/ACT. I personally see nothing wrong with it if they can get it done before August 1. But surely you're not one of those Froggie's who think they magically stole 6 BCS commits from Big 12 schools IN ONE WEEK. BTW you lost the bet-Shea Smith did not get an offer.
Re:
Yeah I did (on Smith). Regarding the switches if you look at the speed og the class you will understand the switches by Hunter & Brown a lot better. TCU hired a great sprint coach (despite the problems in the program) and those two knew of the coach & his reputation and will run track at TCU. Pierce came with Hunter and will also run track. The switch by Chris Jones had been known for almost a month and kept under wraps as well as the commit by Guillroy. The Lorenzo Jones switch has also been expected for awhile and is the result of a lot of hours of hard work. None of the switches were as a result of any school losing interest in a player. Leech to a personal visit to Hunter & Pierce to try to change their minds back. The others were complete surprises to the coaches.
who really knows-but I can document info on Rivals in the LAST WEEK questioning the eligibility of these players. 1/25/05 Longview Head Coach: Both(Hunter and Pierce) of them still need to qualify, but they are close" They will double sign with TCU and Kilgore JC. 1/28/05 Chris Jones was scheduled to take or retake his SAT on this date 2/01/05 Lorenzo Jones lists Coffeyville Kansas CC as an option. I bet at least 5 are NOT qualified today. Within the week a Baylor private report indicated Hodge was not qualified and Baylor would not offer. Sorry I don't believe in the Easter Bunny.
Re:
Agree that there might be some grade issues, but Jones and Guillory from Lafayette were surprises to OSU (i.e. they didn't back off of the these players). Same thing with the running back who had committed to Kansas and to Lorenzo Jones with Nebraska. Not arguing whether or not these guys are grade risks but the teams they were committed to seem surprised at the switch - in other words they weren't walking away from these guys like you are intimating. Good luck with your class..I just hope we can some/most of these guys into school. Have to wait and see.
