GrayshirtsI noticed in the bios that Todd Alexander, Hosh Hickman and Adrian Dizer are "grayshirts" and will enroll at SMU in January.
Dizer's bio states he "leads the Clarksville hoops squad, ranked No. 1 in the state." So why is he "grayshirting" ?
"Gray shirting" means they have signed a letter of intent, but won't enroll as a fulltime student until January 2006.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Grayshirts
I am assuming that "Grayshirts" are used due to a HS injury. Alexander (shoulder), Hickman (knee)... what about Dizer? Do grayshirts count against this class as to the scholarship count for 2005 season?
Re: Grayshirts
They "gray shirt" because a school doesn't have enough scholarships available. They can enroll in the spring and usually there are more than enough openings because of graduation. Mid-semester enrollment can count against either year, so if a slot became available because of someone leaving they could count against the prior year, if no openings they would count against the future year. Generally you want them in the future year so the technically would have 5.5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility.
Grayshirtsthis is Josh Hickman, i got hurt the 2nd to last game of the season. i had tour my ACL and i had surgery. Do to that, coach Burns and coach Bennett wanted me to come to SMU in SPRING of 2006 so i can get my knee better. I have a FULL scholarship.
Welcome aboard, Josh! We're proud to have you at SMU. Take care of that knee, run and lift until you're in great shape -- we look forward to seeing you next January. (Will you be at the Red/Blue Game in the spring?)
And when you do suit up for the Ponies, keep that Chris Hovan-esque eye=black that you have in your picture -- it's a great look. SMU had a linebacker in The Old Days (I think he graduated 2 or 3 years ago) named Vic Viloria who sported that look. I like it. Frankly, I'm surprised more guys don't get creative with that stuff. Welcome to SMU, Josh, and welcome to PonyFans.com. Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
Sorry you have to wait a year, but being health and having your body whole again is the most important thing right now. We will be looking forward to seeing you in a Mustang uniform next year. Mean while, study hard and keep your grades up and by all means, do what your doctor tells you to do. Welcome aboard the ponyfan express.
