What a stupid rationalization... People like you are making it just as miserable being an SMU fan as it was during the PB years.sbsmith wrote: If a kid is letting innocuous fan chatter influence his decision-making then he's too dumb to be of use to SMU or anyone else.

Rationalization or not, no sane person lets people they don't know on some message board dictate their major life decisions.

it's true. we are very tame compared to a lot of the big school boards out there. if they get offended by stuff on here, they're obviously not reading other boards.sbsmith wrote:BigT3x wrote:What a stupid rationalization... It's not really stupid at all. If something I say on here effects a kid so much that he wants to change schools then what will he do when a coach yells at him or a member of the opposing team. Move to another country?BigT3x wrote:What a stupid rationalization... As much as you guys are tired of our "negative" comments, I am tired of people on here trying to control what I am allowed to say on here by saying we are running or recruits or hurting the school or whatever.

Lest you forget...we are talking about 17 and 18 year old kids. Think back to when you were that age and someone made derogatory remarks about you...how would you have reacted? There are very few "sane" teenagers. Once again folks this is not a private conversation at a bar over drinks. It is a public forum and although there is a large degree of anonymity, we should still try to be civil in our interactions...IMHO.sbsmith wrote:BigT3x wrote:What a stupid rationalization... SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I wasn't exactly a beacon of wisdom at that age but I knew enough to not let the wrong things impact major decisions. It would have never occurred to me to let chatter on a message board influence my college choice. I think we display a remarkable amount of civility in our interactions compared to other message boards of FBS teams.

If kids based their decisions off of what was said on a message board then we would get all the recruits because we are by far the most tame board around.
