Anybody heard ANYTHING about the new AD?
Usually, people have posted a hundred rumors about "what they've heard" by this point. I haven't heard even a sniff of a rumor so far.

Turner must run a tighter ship than Orsini did.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

What ever would we do without rumors?

I read that somewhere else, but if that is the case then why don't they announce it and get it over with?
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Re: Anybody heard ANYTHING about the new AD?
regarding an internal hire, for my sake, i hope that is the case b/c i have good connections to the assistant AD's. if anyone outside the current program is hired, all current staff will be gone w/n 9 mos. just long enough for the new guy to put his people in place and learn the ropes.
considering where we are on the athletic landscape, an internal hire might not be too bad. we're already in place for the BigEast move, we have a TOP hoops hire, and we're in a good place in football. hiring an outside guy/gal (lol ASU) would be a very big interruption to the machine.
could things be better? YES. absolutely. could they be worse? see: past 20 years.
we're headed in the right direction. if it means that we need someone to just hold the wheel for a year or two while we decide the next heading, then so be it. no need to come in with new maps and try to change course now.

Hopefully, anyone with authority in this area knows that this is exactly what needs to happen - the more shake-up, the better. We're talking about what is best for progress in SMU athletics, not personal relationships. Some folks in the carpeted offices have been around waaaaay too long. Absolutely good people, but they can be good people somewhere else.

It's not going to be an internal hire. If that were the case, it would have already happened. Time for a significant change of approach just like we did with the football and basketball programs.
