Tyrone Ross from Tyler Lee

Postby WorldStang » Wed Feb 02, 2005 2:45 pm

This is a quote from Tyler Morning Telegraph..

District 12-5A offensive MVP Tyrone Ross is not expected to sign Wednesday. Owens said Ross is waiting on test scores, and will sign sometime during the coming weeks. Ross was looking at Navarro, but has since changed his focus to SMU.

"I think he wants to go to SMU," Owens said. "But SMU is a little more academically inclined, so he is going to wait to sign after he gets his next test score in."

.. As I've mentioned before.. this guy is from my HS and is a real talent. Hope to see him on the Hilltop.. would be a fun one to watch! Get those grades going Tyrone!!! We would LOVE to have you!
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Anyone else find it interesting that TCU just goes ahead and signs non-qualifiers? But we are just chilling, waiting to see if he passes before having him sign an LOI?

EXACTLY! BINGO! These kids get pretty worried when all the restricted conferences start backing off from these kids at the last moment. PLEASE remember that none of these kids are likely to pay their way at TCU or SMU anyway so if they don't qualify their going to JC anyway. But let's take a look at Ross and Stephen Hodge. Both recruits led their team late into the playoffs-Ross was the star of Tyler Lee's 5A (Small School Division) State Championship. Because of that they probably delayed getting their SAT/ACT done. If they didn't take any test prep or score high enough the first time when they took it -probably in December-it wouldn't kill anyone to let them have one more shot to pass their test before August 1. Anyone that follows recruiting will tell you that a very high percentage of the star recruits whose teams go late in the playoffs become qualification risks sometimes because of grades but often as a result of failing to take an early SAT/ACT test.

Actually, Tyler Lee is the Class 5A-Division 1 (large school) state champion and yes, Tyronne GREAT running back. Hope he does well on SAT/ACT exam.

A friend of mine saw Ross play and said he was one of the fastest HS players he's ever seen. Apparently, his size kept him from being a high major recruit, but he has 4 star skill.
