BC is in FCS which IS division 1...Mexmustang wrote:Not at all. I guess he played at both Tyler and B-C, one year each. B-C is a four year university, so it must be alright to transfer up to Div 1 without penalty. At LSU he was a redshirt for his only year.

Very true. This increases depth across the board. Love this move.PerunaPunch wrote:An equally important side benefit of this transfer is that this gives us more flexibility with respect to when and how June works our young OLs into the game. Allows us to ease them in when the flow of the game warrants it.

It's a great pickup, and it's wonderful to have him come in and be able to immediately protect Gilbert's blind side for two years. Combined with Palcic's focus on technical excellence, this was great news to wake up to.

Re: SMU Lands a SEC Transfer
You need to read the entire thread. It now appears he never attended B-C at all. He stayed at Tyler JC and it appears he did not play at all last year--even for Tyler. Very confusing set of circumstances. Anyway everyone's posts are up on both boards and the advertisers are pleased.Alasdair wrote:BC is in FCS which IS division 1...Mexmustang wrote:Not at all. You can transfer FSC to FBS, just not FBS to FBSgoldenstang wrote:He didn't play at a JC, he played at Bethune-cookman, they are fcs. He either graduated or is getting a family hardship waiver, that is the only way he would be able to play this year.

Re: SMU Lands a SEC Transfer
If you transfer from FCS to FBS you have to sit out a year just like if you were transferring from FBS to FBS. If you transfer from FBS to FCS then you don't have to sit out. If what you said was the case then you would be hearing of it happening a lot more but it virtually never happens. If you could transfer at will from FCS to FBS then FBS schools would just use FCS as their minor league basically.
This is a moot point because apparently he never attended Bethune-Cookman, but that is the rule, if you transfer down a division you don't have to sit out but if you transfer within a division or up a division you have to sit out a year.

He must have missed a year after he played at the JC. If he missed a year I hope he is not rusty. Practice will tell if he still has it or not.

I assume he has been accepted into SMU. The way he has bounced around makes one a little nervous concerning classroom situation. I hope it does work out for him and welcome to the Hilltop...

Re: SMU Lands a SEC Transfer
His mother was posting on Rivals--all is good, from grades to playing two years to playing this fall. Never even committed to B-C and certainly never attended.
Seems like quite a "Mom" whose son was not happy with the social life (drinking and such) and the fact LSU wanted to put him into a major that would ensure he would have plenty of time for football and make it to practice, etc. He did not want the "jock" major communications everyone was put into. Seems like someone should look into this, but they won't...Anyway no one got ahead of him on the depth chart, he just has different values than the LSU program has.
He did not play at all last year, but the family invested in a first class, professional trainer and the kid is supposed to be in great shape. Moms never lie!
He sounds a little like "Beach", but taller and larger.

Re: SMU Lands a SEC Transfer
Her comments have been deleted from the board...LSU can pay players, force them into non-educational majors, over sign, and we have to worry about a "Mom" signing on to a fan based recruiting board! We need to be in the SEC!
Re: SMU Lands a SEC Transfer
that's too funny (and sad). When I saw her post last night, I was no my way to bed, and told my wife "Hey, I have to read this now before it gets deleted"Mexmustang wrote:Her comments have been deleted from the board...LSU can pay players, force them into non-educational majors, over sign, and we have to worry about a "Mom" signing on to a fan based recruiting board!
