I took specific note of the quote wherein JJ indicated that Turner had made major decision this year. Part of the attribution of this statement is that JJ had lost all respect for Orsini more than 2 years ago relegating Turner into the role of mediator. Ultimately, this situation with JJ was a major factor in the dismissal of Orsini and had some impact on JJ's disatisfaction at SMU causing him to look at MD then ASU last year. Yes, Turner has been the major player in the support of the athletic program even though it took him a number of year to get it figured out.

I certainly hope this is correct about Turner. That will be well for MY future as a donor to SMU Athletics. Onward and Upward we go.

Unless Orsini had a gag order as part of his contract, it's at least mildly interesting that there hasn't been one public word from him at all, period. If someone's been terminated, and they feel they were terminated wrongly, and can speak, in sports more often than not they talk.

If he is going to talk,it would be best to get another job and then talk.

I took note of a comment JJ made that was different than the one he made a few months ago. (from another poster)

"I was kind of not privy to all that, whether it was going to happen or not. I never got the call that it was going to happen"

-June Jones quote from a December 8, 2011 article

Jones said his agent "called me, and they said they agreed to terms."

-June Jones quote from a June 19, 2012 article

He should just leave after this year. He's done his job now, which I'm thankful for, but it's time to part ways and bring a younger staff in here.

JJ's dad is in his 80's and shoots golf in the 80's. A note for a long life for JJ.

I would like to see us win (with June Jones) for 5 more years and then he can move back to Hawaii and be govenor if he wants.

I guess it's what the definition of "is" is.

I would be shocked if any severance Steve-O received wasn't tied to some sort of oath of silence.

Besides, anything negative he says about SMU will be out there for public consumption. What if the president of the next school where he tries to land a job happens to be friends with Turner? That application would be over before it started.

I keep hearing things like this that make it sound like June is somehow reenergized or something. Whatever the reason ... I can't wait for football season!

I agree, I think Steve-O has to watch his P & Q’s, both for self preservation (new job) and separation clause. Plus, I also think it’s best to take the High Road.

The ASU deal has never been that big of an issue for me, nor do I think it was for the players or potential recruits after the initial shot was fired .. I know, call me na├â┬»ve that’s fair. I think Coach Jones and all the staff are excited about this season, I really do, even with the obvious challenges. I think Coach Jones is playing it down and giving the classic "we’ll give it our best and hope for the best" quotes. But, I really think they all believe this year can be very strong. I don’t have a shred of proof to point out, 100% MO based on snippets of conversation with various people.

As long as the program continues to grow and show improvement, I may be one of the few, but I think it has since JJ and his staff arrived. I even think he has made overall improvements in his staff. If this occurs, I think Coach Jones is here for as long as he wants.

Do any one of you expect excellence from anyone? I expect anyone making seven figures to have an absolute urgency for it. That's what makes the ASU deal hard to stomach; he has seemed so la-ti-da about installing his system here and every game he's talking about his QBs and WRs aren't making the right reads on plays, but when Maryland and ASU come along and he can't wait to sign on the dotted line!?! Yeah, he has been good to us, a saint even, but we aren't getting maximum effort or urgency. Some of you feel we've sucked for so long, we take what we get but I feel SMU needs and deserves more from June.

I agree that June's attitude is a tough call, but he is a different bird. Also, if there are those who think he lost his players, the why are former players showing up on campus after getting DRAFTED into the NFL? Must really hate June.
