Re: Texas Football NotesDee Paul Top 10 "Athlete"
You could call Brubaker, Johnson and Paul members of the Texas Football Top 206 as that's how many are named as Best at their Positions. (Usually about 375 Texas recruits get Division 1A scholarships) In addition, others who are listed as Best of the Rest-Athlete Everitt Dickerson(Atlanta), Athlete Jabryce Taylor(Lufkin) and LB Roderick Moore (Skyline) which could considered Texas Top 300 Last edited by Stallion on Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:33 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Texas Football NotesVery nice!
Congratulations to Brubaker, Johnson and Paul; Line, DJ, T-Reed and JG. Thanks for posting, Stallion.
Texas Football NotesJG doesn't get the respect he deserves. The man wreaks havoc on every play, yet he's always mentioned as our 3rd or even 4th best defender.

Re: Texas Football NotesJG & Reed have been great; JG has absolutely wrecked shop on a lot of plays last year. I'd love for them to both take that next step and simply be so damn good their senior year that they absolutely just dominate every second of every game regardless of competition level.
Re: Texas Football NotesMason has to licking his chops this year. What a wrecking crew the front 7 ought to be when you add in Hunt, Sanders to Reed, Davis. That's 4 Wild Stallions in my book. Then you still have Cameron, Pittman and Grenier. I hope they Stampede the Baylor offense. We've simply got to win that game! Then it's "Katie, bar the door". Thanks for posting, Stallion.
Re: Texas Football NotesStallion, I'm sorry, I'm a little confused.
If Brubaker is on the 3rd team TE wouldn't that make him the 3rd best TE in the state in their judgement? A Top 30 OL prospect out of a state like Texas should have a number of programs after him, especially if he starts moving to the middle of that pack. If Dee is a top 10 ATH out of Texas that would have to place him at Big 12 material, especially - again - if he is anywhere close to the middle of that group. I'd like to see kids who are higher ranked as well, but it just seems to me that some of these kids - outside of Brubaker - are being overlooked by 'better' programs. Am I wrong?
Re: Texas Football NotesWhere is Margus? I would have thought he would make at least 3rd team.
How many stars and BCS offers did these five (including Margus) have as High School recruits? The best judge of talent is that first week of practice and secondly that first game experience, not some publisher. Last edited by Mexmustang on Wed Jun 27, 2012 11:18 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Texas Football Notes
I fully expect each of those guys to collect more offers as their senior season goes along.
Re: Texas Football NotesReally austexpony, wrecking crew? Wrecking crew?
Re: Texas Football NotesThe Super Team is composed of 3 teams totaling 36 Offensive and 36 Defensive Players
The Top at Position has 206 players which includes all Super Team members The Best of the Rest include the remaining players in the Texas Top 300 "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Texas Football Notes
Margus didn't have any stars. He's a 25-year-old that came to SMU (he was probably 21-ish when he got here) to train with Dave Wollman, our track coach, who is renowned for his coaching in the throwing disciplines. He wouldn't have had any stars because he didn't even play the game until 2009. "It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: Texas Football NotesObviously we all know that (Margus Hunt)...but the point being Zach was a two star without any BCS offers as I recall and the three others didn't exactly light the recruiting services up. Just a note that there are considerable variables that come into play when trying to rate a 16-17 high school recruit and that a number of key items (physical growth, mental toughness, academics, and work ethic, etc.) are difficult to measure and are almost impossible to assign "stars" to until they actually play the college game. I maybe wrong, but some of these players were rated very late, actually into the fall of their HS senior year--there is still hope for this year's class.
