Boise State

Post by AusTxPony »

Not much made on this board of the biggest weekend news of Boise resigning from the MWC and officially joining us in the NBE. Huge news though expected in many quarters. The negative results of their not taking this action would have been consequential for SMU. This remains a league that must prove itself to the talking heads and fans. It can do that by winning the OOC games against more respected leagues. Next year will be the last of the BCS games I believe, so we need to be in the mix with Boise, Louisville, Rutgers, et. al. for that slot. The future can be bright if we keep working to improve. It's imperative to build the fan base, so get on board Mustangs.

great news, thanks.

I cant stand the sports media right now. They choose to only report the negative stuff that would de-value the BigEast. I very much believe that the NBE will be superior to the old...

It is our chance to prove ourselves. The whole league needs to prove ourselves.

Boise has to pay 2.5mm to the MWC for leaving by the time they depart.

Backing out would cost them 5mm with the Big East.

They need a non-fb home and while I think they still come it isn't certain until their non-fb is somewhere other than the WAC.

I think they will find a home. they have a couple options honestly. WAC will probably survive in the sense that there are always schools looking to move up. texas pan-american was listed as well as a couple others as options.

who knows though. I have faith things will be good.

In fact they are now in the NBE and would have to pay a much larger fee to exit again, so that won't happen. They must be planning to help keep WAC as a bball conference or go Big West if invited or Independent (which would only negatively affect their Bball teams).

I think it still is just the 5mm back out fee. So it's a 2.5mm swing if they back out.

I think they will buy off either the BW, Big Sky, Summitt, or MVC. I doubt they go back. I was just tapping the break on "done deal" sentiment. It's still not 100% sure but I'd put it at 90%.

wow....I can't stand reading the comments section about Boise meeting the deadline. ESPN has spun so much negativity towards the NBE it makes me sick. I can't wait till we get this conference together and actually have the chance to prove its worth.

It is a good league. I think all except Memphis and post-Schiano Rutgers have the ability to be solid teams most years. A lot of well run programs.
