New head coach Phil Bennett spent the spring trying to figure out what he had for the coming season. Not that the Southern Methodist Mustangs have been that bad, they just haven't found a way to score often enough to win.
Enter Bennett, who has four talented running backs he plans to use early and often. Chief among them is Kris Briggs, who has 1,559 career rushing yards for the Ponies. Keylon Kincade is another strong back in the making. He scored two touchdowns in the spring game to give Bennett plenty of options at running back.
"We kept things pretty basic this spring," Bennett said. "I wanted to see good execution on both sides of the football, and we had a chance to do that in the annual spring game."
It was cut short by bad weather, but Bennett saw enough to hope for a winning season.

Briggs is the team's top running option? He's a FULLBACK now. His job, primarily, is to open holes for ShanD and Keylon Kincade. These folks have ShanD ranked THIRD? What's going on at CBS?
