Re: Turner Going Pro?Part of the " rest of the story"; drug and alcohol problems. Rest of the story is that he probably did not get admitted and was forced to opt out to the European pros if they will take him.
Re: Turner Going Pro?Josiah Turner bails to Europe ball....
We anticipated this...Josiah bails to play pro ball.....d-league. Chuck Cooperstein â€
Re: Turner Going Pro?It's safe to say. Josiah's future is a "train wreck," and his future is now!
2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: Turner Going Pro?wow, bailing on a college education with his past?....goooood luck in the future
Re: Turner Going Pro?
And a $220,000 education at that. He won't make that much total in pro ball with his history of antics.
Re: Turner Going Pro?Why I'm I not too upset about this? He also had to sit out a year using up a scholarship. I have faith that Larry brown will fill this scholarship with someone worthy.
Re: Turner Going Pro?
This simple fact is that some kids were not built for college. If they don't want to be there and don't want to take advantage of a $220K education, they should be allowed to work. IMHO - the "one and done" system is idiotic. Having a kid on campus taking up dorm/classroom space is wasteful. The NBA rules need to be modified to protect the college system. - Kids who don't want a college education should be routed into a minor league system. - Kids who do want a college education need to commit to three years. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Re: Turner Going Pro?
Gotta get admitted to bail in the first place ...
Re: Turner Going Pro?should do same as baseball - 0 or 2 yrs minimum
Re: Turner Going Pro?
I agree with you. In several current LB articles it is clear according to LB that Turner simply has absolutely no interest in school. Unfortunately, college was his best chance to figure out what life was really about and give himself the time to mature and find himself before the pro life style corrupted his view of life and himself. You can only wish a kid like this the best of success; however, the reality is that he may not even be pro material and 5 years from now he may be making headlines in some newspaper for some bad reason.
Re: Turner Going Pro?to clarify-he was admitted to SMU-SMU can get in just about any transfer their opponents can. There simply is no evidence to the contrary for many years now

Re: Turner Going Pro?How do you know he was admitted? I would seriously doubt that SMU would provide that information about a prospective student who never enrolled.
Plus, I hope you're right about the transfers. I was under the impression that it's actually easier for freshmen to get admitted than some transfers.
Re: Turner Going Pro?Rivals reported it
SMU is letting in every JUCO that graduates with a degree many of which were non-qualifiers out of high school.. SMU has let in a long line of Division 1A transfers that were on academic probation. Under NCAA transfer rules (4 to 4 year schools) some have to transfer to a Juco or CC first to become eligible to receive aid at a 4 year school-but we let them in when they meet NCAA transfer rules. Not all transfers from 4 year universities are eligible to receive academic aid at another 4 year university in the first year of transfer We have now 5 years of experience. The evidence is overwhelming with probably 25 examples in Football and Basketball. A better question to those who persist with perpetuating this myth is to ask which QUALIFIED recruits were NOT ADMITTED because of ACADEMICS "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Turner Going Pro?
You lack a fundamental understanding of how this works. The fact that you took rivals word for it is funny, if only cause this staff is exceptionally new media and pr savvy. I'm not spilling the beans on any of this, but they have you believing exactly what they want you believe w regards to Josiah. It's a wonderful staff that really gets it. Try not to make sweeping statements by what you read on services, cause as great as they are, their access is predicated on how the tip-toe the party line
