The rumors had been going on for a while but this now seems to be official. Should be interesting to see what he can do at TCU. Recruiting just got a little more interesting for the next couple of years if nothing else. Former SMU and Skyline grad, Johnny Bravo tweeted the following:

No June Jones connection and he can recruit, poor fit for this staff. Home run for the Toads though, Shannon has a lot of skins on the wall and is their most accomplished assistant.

SMU doesn't (as in just about NEVER) successfully recruit the same players as TCU-so I'm not sure how much it will hurt SMU but this is a huge hire for TCU. I wonder if he is going to concentrate on DFW. Also what happens once the NCAA gets through with Miami-many violations involved his tenure

Randy Shannon is a good coach, but he brings a lot of potential NCAA baggage with him from Miami. Not sure if this is really a good hire for TCU right now.
