Now if we only had a PR department. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

As a former journalist and current PR guy, I'm somewhat shocked by SMU athletics' lack of PR or PR savvy. On the surface, at least to me it seems like the athletic dept. is shy about anything press related.

Methinks a country club mentality still permeates our Athletic Department. It is stunting us.
