I thought about OJ and Marcus Allen. Certainly both were great running backs. OJ didn't have great pro numbers for many of his years in the NFL and finally had a couple of solid seasons. Part of that was because the Bills had no offense to speak of except OJ and no line to give him much room. I probably should have added Marcus Allen to my list, the game he had in that Raiders/Redskins Super Bowl and his entire career certainly put him in rare company. And concerning Eric the citizen. He has kept his nose clean and while known as a "me first" player, was very appreciated by his Rams teammates. Also with the ball he could be either elusive or run over people. There are plenty of defensive backs who still have his cleat marks on their backs.

How about that Smith played behind the best offensive line. That is the only Top 10 he makes in my opinion. He certainly is no Brown, Payton, Dickerson, Sanders, Simpson. or Sayers I don't think he is as good as Lydel Mitchell, Larry Czonka, Cory Dillon, Edgerran James, Marsahall Faulk, Marcus Allen or Priest Holmes but I know the stats guys will not agree. The O-Line from Dallas' 90's superbowl teams should go to the hall before any of the others from those teams IMHO. OP could have run for 1000 yds behind those guys. Well- maybe not OP.
