Re: Silas Redd
QB Rob Bolden is also transferring to LSU. I have also heard a report that their is another former starter that is looking at Florida State. This may be the beginning of a lot more to come
Re: Silas Redd
Penn State is going to lose a few battles but win the war when it comes to losing players - the few they are losing are either projected backups or are transferring from a small bowl caliber team (with or without the sanctions) to NC championship contenders:
- Redd is a RB transferring to a NC caliber team with a HUGE hole at running back.
- Bolden was threatening to transfer last season, even before the sanctions came down, and is considered to be the backup going into the season, so he transfers to another NC caliber team that has had QB issues for the past few years and has an unproven transfer slated to be the starter going into the season.
- The LB and safety they are losing are also projected backups. The safety was a walk-on who is going home to play for his home state school NC State.

Re: Silas Redd
I wondered if this was going to happen.
I figured it would take a couple dominoes to set the exodus in motion...

Considering that they will probably lose less than 10 players from the looks of it I would say they did pretty well in keeping the team together.

Re: Silas Redd
Agreed. I expect to be shocked by how few players leave State Penn.
Re: Silas Redd
the problem was never going to be the players leaving the current team...it's going to be the lack of players wanting/being able to play there over the next four years.
Re: Silas Redd
They're going to have player transfer after this season as well. Remember, if a player was on the team when the sanctions were issued they can transfer before this season or next with impunity. Since it is so late in the offseason, I expect a number of players to leave for the 2013 season.

Re: Silas Redd
Under certain circumstances I would. But I understand why others wouldn't.
Re: Silas Redd
I would transfer. Maybe even if I was a normal student.
