You always have to consider the intelligence of people who drink Miller Lite, but yes, that one is right up there with that rimmed bottle neck that supposedly would enhance the flavor (when there isn't any flavor anyway!) on the list of silly things the average U.S. American will fall for these days.

My favorite gimmick is "triple hops brewed!". Every beer is triple hops brewed. That's just how beer is made.

stupid statement. I love great beers, but try to drink a nice IPA all day long in a softball tourney when it's 100 outside. Miller lite won't fill you up, and it tastes better than coors or bud light.

That out of the way, you are 100% correct that the can and bottle gimmicks are ridiculous.

If you can splurge for it, I'd recommend Victory Brewing Co.'s Prima Pils. Great Pilsner, lower ABV, won't fill you up. Definitely not as economical as a 24 rack of Coors Lite or Miller, but eh, win some, lose some.

I skipped work Tuesday and played golf in the afternoon cauldron, and took a 12-pack of Harpoon IPA with me, and drained it. Didn't weigh me down at all. In fact, I want another right now.

playing golf tends to not churn things up as much as running around the outfield for 8 hours.

After reading this thread its hard to believe why SMU has attendance issues with the everyday day football fan.

????

I didn't realize it is a crime to like decent beer.

And seriously, I understand if you are out in the sun all day you don't want to be drinking IPAs, but there are plenty of decent Euro lagers and pilsners which are not brewed with all of the fillers in American beers if you wish to have something a bit lighter.

Anyway, to each his/her own.

For the record, I will down the occasional PBR or Modelo. Nothing wrong with that.

Anybody make it over to Union Bear? Great place for a good brew. Was there last night.

True. It was very unpatriotic of me to infer all American beers have fillers. I obviously meant the mass-produced American beers...

If you spend as much time as I do looking in the trees for errant tee shots, you can burn a hell of a lot of calories.

Ok. I have a serious question abut beer. I have never really liked beer. Drink it every now and then if it is there and I am tired of water. The other night in Naples I was at a dinner gathering on the beach and decided to have a beer and was served a Blue Moon. I actually liked it. Was it good:

1. Because I have no class
2. It really is a good beer
3. Anything on the beach in Naples is good
4. All of the above
