How did you find that? I remember the first game of that season was against UTEP, mercy, was it ever hot.

One of the most brutal games in SMU history. Even the 107 degrees at the opening of Ford against Kansas doesn't hold a candle to that one!

We had 2 home games that occurred on the same day as Rangers games
Sep 10 vs. UTEP (26,691)-home opener
Sep 10 vs. Oak (46,151)-division rival, had 10,000 fewer fans for the Friday game of the series
Oct 15 vs. UCF (22,932)
Oct 15 vs. Det (51,508)- AL Pennant deciding game
Oct 15 - oh, man I remember that night! Barely!

I may be wrong about this but the '85 UTEP game was played in Texas Stadium right after the open space between the top row and the roof was filled in. Anyway, that roof was holding a lot of residual heat inside that building for the rest of the night.

I went to both the SMU game and Ranger game that day. It was awesome.
