• Not for nuthin’…but I’m convinced the money for the new-look Big East will get close to, or even surpass, what the ACC received. ESPN gave the ACC a 15-year, $3.6 billion dollar deal this spring…which equates to schools receiving somewhere around $17 million annually. This is why Syracuse and Pitt jumped, and why UConn would also make the leap if asked. But the dollars I’ve heard being talked about with a new Big East deal - for a "national" conference - are close. Or should be…
• A telling quote from ex-CBS sports head Neal Pilson, who told USA Today "The college conference deals are like beachfront property. They're valuable, partly because there are very few of them. And these networks are staking out a long-term claim to keep out the competition." If NBC doesn’t pick up the Big East, which they are going to come after hard, it will mean that ESPN paid more than they planned to keep the conference for themselves. The Big East wins, and the dearly departed former members…not so much. Why else would Boise State stay committed to an eastern football league?

Good find SMU89...that is what has been hoped for. If it really does come in at a higher deal than the ACC....Katy bar the door. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The best part would be a move to @NBCSports.
1) They are desperate for content;
2) Unlike ESPN, they want the Big East to work;
3) NBC won't allow their analysts to talk down Big East FB any chance they can. While Big East football is not SEC football, it is directly comparable to ACC football.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: BE TV = > ACC
Hey whatever you may feel.....whichever Network actually gets the contract executed with the Big East will still have a major, major financial investment in the BE for years to come and will spend millions promoting the BE to protect their investment. The promotion and advertising alone in the coming years will pay huge dividends to all involved in the BE. The BE bashing in the past year by ESPN will not be a factor anymore if ESPN really does re-sign the Big East and NBC, if it gets the contract will promote the bejesus out of all the teams and every game to be played in the Big East. SMU will reap huge cash events and will be promoted coast to coast. It's ALL good folks.

I love the idea of NBC promoting the Big East, especially with their broad distribution, e.g. acquisition of Versus, now NBC Sports cable. As for Notre Dame, it is a win-win. We want the Irish committed to BE for all sports and can live with indepdence in football. ND may even increase the number or frequency of FB game within BE. Navy is an annual game. Temple is on their schedule in 2013. If we get BYU or Air Force added in the future, that will further add to BE support and NBC value.
