Fuller may end up starting
His talent is starting to stand out and show. The last 3 practices, he's out jumped and came down with at least 2 balls each practice that should have been broken up or intercepted by the DB's. If Fuller doesn't start, look for him to be on the field often, and by mid season, he may start. If the coaches are watching practice (which they are) it's pretty clear he's doing more than "playing well," but simply put, he's standing out as the best receiver so far. He may be the worst receiver on the team, but if the level of play in practice counts as what is a good, bad, average, or best receiver, I'm not finding anyone who could rank as better.

may the best player play, I am all for it....

Re: Fuller may end up starting
I'm glad he's making catches, but I'd be surprised if he takes over a starting role. Coach Jones seems to prefer smaller guys who are quicker in and out of their breaks, and all indications are that he has left the starting foursome of Johnson, Johnson, Holman and Thompson intact so far. That said, if Fuller is as reliable as you suggest, maybe he can take on the blocking tight end role and contribute on special teams?

I hear this DJ3 guy may turn out to be a decent receiver...

Fuller would a value player in the tight end package when they run it IMO.

The one thing I don't like about JJ's mindset (he reiterated it again in an interview with PP earlier this week) is that he likes to stay with his same 4 WRs. In all my infinite football wisdom (I have none), it would seem that you'd want to take advantage of all this talent/depth we have now in the WR position and run A LOT more hurry up sets and wear out these defenses with heavy rotations of Guinyard, Dieter, Fuller, Holleman, Loftin, Joseph, Stewart, Lagasse, etc (ESPECIALLY the ones who are bigger than us - BU, aTm, etc) ... I hope JP has some influence here. I really think this puts us at a competitive advantage against the 4-3 defenses with the bigger dogs in the trenches ...

I don't understand that either. I wouldn't play everybody but I definitely would have had a guy like Jeremy Johnson rotate in a lot more last year especially after his TCU performance. If I had quality depth I'd give the starters a rest now and then-Run and Shoot receivers do a helluva a lot of running during the game

I also would like to see Fuller get into the game as he is our best tall WR right now. He would be an asset in the red zone for sure as a TE or a WR. I understand he has a good vertical leap also, and like Gilbert, Fuller has experience having played at Virginia Tech.

Jones seems to operate on the timing theory rather than fresh legs theory. I too would rotate the receivers more. Gives you fresh legs, different speeds, and different sizes. But then again, they did not ask me.

I agree that it is odd we do not rotate receivers in more too. We run so many fly routes it has to wear them out.

This is what I'm thinking. Timing and chemistry trumps "freshness" in his view. But, it would seem that timing and chemistry can be maintained with rotating in at least 2-3 new guys every once in a while per game time situations of course.

Or, maybe talent trumps freshness.
It could be that if we have a lot of top flight receivers, we will rotate players more often. But if you backups have the dropsies, don't go all out in practice, or don't have a full grasp of the offense, they aren't going to play.

If Jones cared about fresh legs or pace, he wouldn't make his quarterback run to the sideline every play. Obviously not a big priority for him.

was about to say the same thing. it's like running a 5k race within the game.
