TCU's new stadium
I know a lot of posters on this board like to make fun of the TCU architecture, but I had a little mini tour of their new/rebuilt stadium Sunday afternoon with a froggie friend of mine and it is very impressive. Their architects have done a fabulous job with it. Photos don't do it justice. Congrats to all our frog posters on you new stadium.
After seeing what they have done I am even more of the opinion that we need to add an upper deck on the east side of Ford. Hope it happens.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Who would be sitting in this upper deck? We're not there yet.

Plenty of people! Imagine the crowds we will have this year for A&M, TCU, and Houston.

When has playing Houston helped fill our stadium in the last 20 years?

I'm not saying do it now, although we certainly could fill it when we play big 12 schools, but I'm saying when we do expand Ford we should do an upper deck on the east side and leave the south end-zone open.

The same ones sitting in the end zones now. Nobody. Only thing worse than a half-full stadium is a bigger half-full stadium. Shelve your upper deck blueprints until our plan comes together.

It just seems like a lot of Houston fans show up because they bring some big, loud high school band with them.

Thank you. Good luck to y'all in the Big East. Your program is headed in the right direction.

Re: TCU's new stadium
I love the old stadiums, but from the pictures I have seen they have done a very nice job with the renovation. My only complaint is the color purple, I have never been a fan of the color. Now before our frog friends jump on me let me say my kids high school colors are purple and gold. When i attend their high school sporting events I wear gold shirts not purple.
Nice job on Amon Carter.

Re: TCU's new stadium
Thanks. The reason the stadium looks so great is because it's brand new and not a renovation. Everything from the ground up is new as well as 60,000 sq feet below ground. I think that is why it looks so good...much more than a reno.

You are correct it is mostly a brand new stadium. I thought parts of the concrete base In the lower seating bowl were saved on the west side?

The below-ground concrete bowl was saved and extensively renovated. Apart from that and the actual playing field, everything else (including subterranean interiors) was completely demolished and rebuilt to the tune of $164 million.
