who gives a rat's arse about halftime shows? I've even heard a complaint about just how BAD the Super Bowl halftime was and it was Paul McCartney for crying out loud.

Your first mistake was watching halftime in the first place. Had you been re-filling your drink like you're supposed to, you would have missed that embarrassment. McCartney was great only as a member of the Beatles, not as a solo act and definitely not in that crappy Wings experiment.
