Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedMuch improved schedule. LB showing some guts and can recruit showing he is stepping up. Everything LB is doing is answering all my expectations. Why did we ever wait weeks to bring him in when he asked for the job?
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedmaybe void of any heavyweights, but I don't see the usual group of cupcakes (I've consistently refused to accept that SMU is the cupcake on many team's schedules). Appears this should be a very competitive schedule.
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedReally glad that Dallas Christian isn't on the schedule, but some of you would have ripped Doh for scheduling Rider (FYI - I think it's a great schedule this year and better than what we have seen in the past)
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedhold on the negative comments on Rider. they are division 1 and will not be a cup cake for SMU.
Rider is a step up over 1/2 dozen schools DOH scheduled.
Re: Men's basketball schedule released
maybe, but there isn't anyone on the schedule w/half the name value of Ok St or even Ole Miss this year. We played TCU last year, this year we have Wyoming, but last year we got Colorado St. We were in a far better preseason tourney last year, and some of the teams that got mocked like Florida gulf Coast are faster rising programs than Rider. This years schedule has lots of middle of the road opponents, last years had few middle of the road, just a few high majors, and a bunch of perceived slugs. Don't get me wrong, I prefer this years schedule, but it would have been great to ditch a game w/Utah, add another high major in, pick only one of Hofstra/R.I and get another sure fire win in there. Schedules need a high end, a middle and a low. This schedule is prozac. Everyone is roughly the same.
Re: Men's basketball schedule released
LOL. And true.
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedHofstra and Rider might be about keeping the northeast in play as we prepare to enter the BE?
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedLast year, Rider had a down year, but they are not a total cupcake. They led Pitt with 10 minutes to go. They tend to be ranked between 100 - 200 most years. Over the past 5 years they have beat the following teams on the road of on nuetral courts.
Southern Cal, TCU, LaSalle, Miss State (they were # 18 in country), St.Joe's, Penn State and Rutgers. They also 2007 had a lottery pick - Jason Thompson (Sacremento Kings). The game haa potenital to be competitive if Nurideen Lindsey (St John's transfer) is award a waiver. He transfered to Rider in January after his mother in Philadelphia had a stroke.
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedI agree with those who recognize that Rider is tough competition, but a lot of our fans would have lambasted Doh for scheduling a "no-name" school if he had scheduled Rider.
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedI believe DOH gets lambasted these days for his twitter comments.
2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedDoh can eat a bag o'dongs for that crap he pulled the other day. Smug [deleted] making comments about 'being paid not to work' cause SMU 'owes' him until May. "good work if you can get it' etc.
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedYeah, that was pretty surprising to me that he did that. Always seemed way too savvy off the court to say something like that.
Re: Men's basketball schedule released
What a [deleted]. He'd better save some of that money because who knows where his next check will come from.
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedtried to rough him up in 140 characters or less after I saw it. He lacks grace & class. I should know, I have neither
Re: Men's basketball schedule releasedthe digs at NC State weren't that funny, either
