Life After Jones

Post by AusTxPony »

I'm thinking Jones will "retire" to Hawaii after '14 to '16 so then who do we get. Noticed Sean Peyton went to North Texas to talk to team and that made me think, Would he come to SMU after Jones? What is the salary difference? Could it happen? Would we be happy with him? I know that this is way down the line, but we will really need a name after Jones to keep the mo going and take us to where we want to be in the NBE.

Heard Nick Saban has been eyeing the SMU job for years!

Les Miles, Gus Malzahn, Nick Saban or Chip Kelly would be good coaches for SMU to eye.

Hopefully this time we just pay the coach...

Sonny Dykes would be an interesting choice. I think Jones adioses after the Big East inaugural season...but after the last couple of years, the short list does need to be kept handy.

When Chip Kelly gets fired in two years because no one can turn around Notre Dame we could have a shot at him. Also being up here in Ohio Luke Fickell did a great job in a tough situation here last year.

I hear Bobby Petrino could be available and SMU does have a volleyball program. I think that would help.

Chip Kelly is at Oregon, Brian Kelly is at Notre Dame.

Texas Tech may have Dykes next year.

I am curious to see how the Akron Zips do with Bowden as their new head coach this year.
