Pretty good, knowledgeable breakdown.

Very good break down...but Pittman is 305 pounds now and benches more than he ever has so he will be even more of a threat. He sat with us at the Kick Off lunch and he is much bigger than last year. LB Reed now benches 465 pounds! The SMU defense is formidable...

Looks like WordUpBU's handiwork.

Reed pushed it to 485 a few weeks ago!

Goodness, give the guy that penned that one a raise.
Re: Baylor previews SMU's D
Very impressive write-up … accurate with little to zero overtones of a homer’s perspective. Adding to T Reeds weight room gains … after playing the last two months of the season with a hairline fracture in his right wrist and thumb and having to throttle back his lifting to about March of this year, I've heard Rogers is now a 430 bench. A couple of strong athletic young men in the middle. Although, I'm more impressed with the 225 reps than a single lift, and one does not necessarily translate to the other. But, these boys are strong ... all our boys. Great job by Coach Mel and his staff.

Next story will be about his injured back or pecs. Strength is important but we have too many kids that end up with injuries from the weight room.

There is a max that every strength coach follows that they won't let their players go past. I know our strength coach won't let anyone squat over 705.

That's total BS Myrdel..they use all the up to date techniques and strategies and now have a younger assistant to Mel with even more new weightlifting mentalities.. This always happens with young kids working out....it happens, and all of the athletes have all made huge gains in strength and size and is a testament to Mels programs over the past 3 years...I used to lift a lot and remember the days or weeks when you pushed your self past the old limits and had some short time muscle injuries. C'mon Mrydel you did too back when you were benching 500 pounds!

Yes 89, I am lifting more than ever and carrying it with me everywhere I go. But ponyscott, I would wager we have had more weight room injuries in the past 3 or 4 years than we have on field.

Wasn't that a common issue with our current strength coach when he was in his previous job?

After he got hired someone who followed Hawaii posted that, no idea if it was true or not.
