Are Beachum's chances improving?
A lot has been written about how Kelvin Beachum has struggled at times in training camp with the Steelers. I don't know how true that is in the coaches' eyes, or if it's just the analysis of bloggers. But Pittsburgh's first-round pick, G David DeCastro of Stanford, went down for the season last night with a torn ACL and MCL. I don't know if that gets Beach a roster spot, or merely a spot on the practice squad, if anything. He'll be the last guy who says he wants to get a spot because of someone else's misfortune, but he also knows it's part of the game. When someone gets hurt, someone else has to be ready. Hopefully, that'll be Beach.

I stand corrected:
"Pittsburgh Steelers right guard David DeCastro dislocated his knee cap, tore his medial collateral ligament and suffered some damage to his patellar tendon. But his anterior cruciate ligament is intact, according to sources."

Re: Are Beachum's chances improving?
What I have read to this point about KB is that he has been in several fights (practice and preseason) with other players. He is also getting a lot of penalties. There have also been an occasional missed block. All of these things may be media generated has negative press against him. Some are projecting that he may not make the practice squad.
Now, since the injury yesterday to other guys knee (and someone else's injury), I think Beachum has moved up the depth chart to be an active player (not starter).
