I know, it's really early. And these guys are nothing more than HS juniors who have answered a questionaire or something, and it doesn't mean SMU is interested. Maybe none of them can play. Who knows?
Anyway, here's a list of guys Insiders says have some level of interest in SMU:

QB Zachary Rhodes - New Braunfels (NBHS), Texas (6-0/194)
LSU, SMU (medium interest), TCU, Texas, Texas A&M

RB Ryan Southworth - Paris (PHS), Texas (5-10/225)
Baylor, Iowa, Oklahoma State, SMU (medium interest), TCU

RB Donte Bean - Garland (North Garland HS), Texas (5-9/180/4.40)
Houston, SMU (medium interest), Texas A&M, Texas Tech

RB Chad Bauman - Klein (KHS), Texas (5-10/179)
SMU (high interest), Louisville, Texas Tech, UCLA

OL Jarve Dean - Houston (Kashmere HS), Texas (6-3/331)
Oklahoma, SMU (medium interest), Texas Tech

OL - Spencer Rogers - Lewisville (Hebron HS), Texas (6-1, 335)
Oklahoma, SMU (medium interest), TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech

DE Adam Arthur - San Antonio (Reagan HS), Texas (6-1/204)
Auburn, SMU (medium interest), Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech

S Tony Dabney - Rockwall (RHS), Texas (5-7/168)

And, from rivals:

WDE Rush Hughes (6-3, 230, 4.8) - Richardson (Pearce), Texas
Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Purdue, Texas A&M, SMU

WR Phillip Burley (6-5, 215, 4.5) - Scurry (Scurry-Rosser), Texas
Arkansas, Missouri, Texas Tech, SMU, TCU
(How any Mustang's brother could consider Tech is beyond me)

QB Matt Stafford (6-3, 210, 4.7) - Dallas (Highland Park), Texas
Audibles: "He's a student of the game who has a great understanding of principles and concepts. But by doing all the extra studying on his own and making the kinds of decisions he does on the field, Matthew has shown everyone how much potential he really has." -Highland Park coach Randy Allen
Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, UCLA, SMU

OK, I think it's a given that Phillip Burley should be high on our wishlist. A receiver who's that big and strong, and has good speed, is sort of a slam-dunk, right?

And I've never seen the Stafford guy play, but everyone seems to think he's a stud QB, so I have to assume he's pretty sound.

But the most interesting name there is that DE from Richardson. How perfect is that name for a defensive end? "RUSH"? That's like a QB whose first name is "Cannon" or something. (Of course, his name doesn't mean he can play .... but he SOUNDS like he can.)

No 2A player should be a slam dunk.

Wasn't Sealy a 2A high school when we recruited that running back from there in the 1980s? I'd say he was a slam-dunk.
If a guy can play, he can play. I don't know if young Burley can play or not. Looks good on paper, though. And it sounds as if some other coaches (Arkansas, TCU, Texas Tech) agree.
