Hilltop's eyes are now on Gilbert

Several UT fan friends of mine told me last night that on their way back from the UT game in Austin they're going to the game in Waco on Sunday just to root Gilbert and the Mustangs.

I think GG will do great..our team is behind him and our fans are behind him. He definitely has a lot of fans throughout the state because he is a good kid. It would be easy for Texas fans to hate him, but instead they wish him all the best and hope he succeeds at SMU.

He lost all of his confidence playing at UT, and it completely messed with his head/playing abilities.

Coming to SMU will be the best thing that ever happened to him and hopefully us!

I'm glad to hear some UT fans will come to our game with Baylor in support of Garrett. I have been told that Garrett was booed off the field in UTs game with BYU last year. No excuse for that in college football. This is not the NFL. Welcome to SMU Garrett ! I know you will do Great here and that would never happen at SMU.

i am really surprised by the support for him from the UT fan base. I think it says a lot about him. I think he'll do well, assuming our guys can catch the ball this year. I'm drooling over the fact that DJ3 won't have to make a circus catch every other grab this year. Guy could be in store for a monster season.

Jeremy Johnson might end up almost as good as DJ this year, so our inside WR position might be really tough to handle for anybody we play. Our outside WRs are fast with one running a 4.3 for sure ,and the other WR runs at least a 4.4 40.

JJ will have his best QB talent, since he arrived. Will GG and the 'run and shoot' light it up for SMU? I think so. The coaches will be more aggressive as the season builds.
