JJ does not beleive in hitting during practice. But the team does perform well in 7 on 7, and flag football games.Hoop Fan wrote:the way the defense looked, it sure seemed that they did not have enough contact and hitting in preseason. Does JJ still keep contact to minimum in fall drills? .

Do you mean for this season?gostangs wrote: Folks - we aren't big 12 quality. Neither is TCU
Go watch tape of TCU v WISC Rose Bowl game a couple years back.
I think you will agree TCU belongs in the big 12.

defense was actually not bad at all in the first half. Demoralized by the end of it (understandably) and probably gassed in second half, yes.

Gave up 307 yards in the first half. Shouldn't have been "gassed", time of possession SMU 39:55 BU 20:05. They did look timid and lost most of the time though.Hoop Fan wrote:defense was actually not bad at all in the first half. Yes, but notice at least 100 of those yards came in the last two minutes (and 10 of their points) after the air was completely out of the balloon after the goalline interception. Ok, so we went toe to toe for 28 out of 60 mins before we caved in emotionally. it happens sometimes when the 'breaks' accumulate in one direction. Something small to build on instead of throwing all the players under the bus and throwing in the towel on the season.ALEX LIFESON wrote:Gave up 307 yards in the first half. Exact same thing happened last year at A&M. They scored twice really quick, defense stiffened and held for a while, and then finally caved and got shredded.
We had more fight this year on the two early drives, but other than that it was pretty similar. Not really sure why other than catching up to the speed of the game, holding on, and then starting to take chances because the offense isn't creating enough.
