In 2010, UH was SMU's 2nd highest attended game and highest conference game.Digetydog wrote:BTW - Are we talking paid attendance or people in seat??
SFA 25,000
TAMU 37,000 - Cram them in there.
TCU 35,000 - See A&M Game.
Houston 22,000 - Couger High doesn't travel. SMU will be rebuilding record after difficult OOC schedule.
Memphis 20,000 - Memphis has less fans than Rice.
So.Miss 28,000 - team can travel, good game, should draw OK
Tulsa <20,000 - brutal date as many SMU students will be out of state for holidays.
In 2008, UH was SMU's highest attended conference game.
In 2011, UH was UNT's highest attended game by far. And before you say it was their stadium opener (which helped), having multiple sections of only UH fans with UH fans in basically every section including some sections with large UH blocks definitely helped.
If we don't travel (questionable assertion), at a minimum we put more SMU butts in the seats.
With that said, as a Thursday game this year, that will probably keep down the UH travel some. It will also probably keep down some of the SMU fan attendance. I'll be there though.
BTW: If you're depending on opponent fans and opponents to draw SMU fans, you're not doing it right.
