Suit out all players for the home games
How about letting all players suit out for the home games and be on the sidelines. A lot of teams do this and there are quite a few positives that come from it. All the boys work hard every week and getting to be on the sidelines to experience the game at that level could only help them. Our coaches instill a lot of "game time" advice and that would also be a benefit to all players. It would also add to our "presence" on our sideline and I believe would help further our team concept. I'm not sure if there's an additional cost to do this, but it seems like it would be a huge positive. Just a thought. Go Ponies!

Thought they did.
Re: Suit out all players for the home games
For a program with a streamlined budget the hotel and extra meal costs would have to come from somewhere. On the other hand maybe the friends and relatives come out to the games which boost attendance. I think it would be better if it was just once or twice a season for those doing the work on and off the field. The negative is you don't want your core group of guys who are playing being distracted by guys who know they aren't playing and may be less focused. The guys not playing may rather have the weekend off. Although the parents always want to see their kid suited up but after a game or two it is torture at any level to see your kid on the sideline with arms folded game after game wanting to help his team after being a star in high school and thinking if "they would only give him a chance......"

You don't need to go to the hotel. Just show up at the stadium on game day. "Weekend off"? Do you think these kids dont want to see their team play.

They don't already? Who do we have that doesn't suit up? Injured players?

I know it's additional coordination on someone's part. Perhaps the meal and hotel could be bypassed if that's too much additional cost. Maybe the TCU & aTm games would be good ones if selecting a couple. As for parents - hopefully most at this point get it and understand it's Division 1 football. The kids that participate at this level that don't get to be out there on game day do it for the love of the game and to support the team - otherwise they wouldn't be there working from Monday through Friday in the first place - true they'd love to play on the weekend, but that's why they are there. Again - most schools do it that I've attended games (TCU, aTm, Tulsa, Texas Tech just to name a few).

In some of Bennett's years he let the whole team suit up. Only the travel team would go to the hotel. The rest of the players would just show up on their own and dress out. June has not let everyone dress out since he has been here.

They could at least have on thier jerseys and be on the sideline.

Re: Suit out all players for the home games
Thanks PonyPlayer4 for the answer. June's call - he's in charge. Just wondering. To clarify, it appears we usually travel and/or suit out at least 2 deep at a position - sometimes 3 deep. It all depends on needs for that week. That's just my understanding by seeing who is on the side-lines. I am definitely not an authority on the policy. Thanks for everyone's response and I apologize if I didn't respond appropriately to all the posts. I haven't posted much and am pretty new to this. I initially responded to the post from ghost and some other posts came in while I was responding/working.

The number of players you can travel changes sometimes, but I believe it is somewhere around 65.

It's all good; I just thought that maybe you and ghost might be the same person offering two different viewpoints. That was just because of the similar posting styles (long paragraphs which are pretty unique for this board)

I'm not creative enough to have such an intriguing name as ghost. I could never pull that off. Thanks.
