I have heard from people inside smu gemerald counsel's office, who were in the room for th BE negotiations and they were guaranteeing 10million minimum but for realistically around 15 per team for their tv rights.

From a pure media perspective the BE has the most valuable tv rights (or Hey porentially will be if they can creat a competative on field product). All 4 time zones, 4 of the 10 largest media markets equals huge pay day.

But outside of the local markets, does anybody really care about the Big East teams for football?

Obviously they do. Get a grip, man.

Can't you say that about any conference?

I know I could care less about any of the other conferences other than the really huge games - which has always been true for the BIG EAST teams as well.
