OK, after "scoring more points than them" ...
SFA is dangerous, and this game is scary. Their quarterback is pretty good, their receivers are huge and their defensive line is incredibly fast. Where we have the advantage, and it looks like it could be a big one, is in the inside running game. Zach Line has to have a huge game, and he has to do a lot of it in the middle of the line. SFA's defensive line runs fast, but their starters weigh 234, 265, 265 and 247 across the front. Jordan Free is listed at 311, Taylor Lasecki at 288 and Blake McJunkin at 295. They have to dominate inside and open lanes for Zach to gash the middle of that defense. If that happens, we can slow their pass rush and then Gilbert will have more room to throw as SFA loads up more defenders near the line of scrimmage.

Have you seen them play or something? Or are you just listening to June's coach speak as he tries to cover his assets in case of a close game? If this is even a close game we should be concerned for the rest of the season. My goodness, no keys just play our game. You are talking about them like they are Alabama or something. June must have asked you to post this.

Re: The key to beating SFA
There's nothing there that sounds like a Bama comparison. Stephen F. Austin is one of the better Div. II (or whatever it's called) teams in the country and is supposed to have a lot of good athletes, right? They're nationally ranked and have 2 FCS All-Americans at WR and 1 at DE. Fast, athletic teams (Houston) have been trouble before, right?
For the record, I watched SFA pound Northwestern State (friend's son plays there) last year. Score was 30-something to 0 and NWS's had better success against us than against SFA. One guy had 5 or 6 sacks! I still think we win tomorrow, but it wouldn't shock me if we don't, and it wouldn't be a massive upset. SFA is pretty good.

Re: The key to beating SFA
At first I was worried about this being a trap game with a good showing at Baylor and with the Aggies coming up. Obviously the first part didn't happen, but this game is still dangerous depending on which team shows up. If our guys are angry and looking to take out some frustration, we should win this one handily. If they bring the "it's non-conference so it doesn't really matter" attitude that they showed against the Bears, SFA does have some weapons that could make us look really foolish. If you don't think it can happen, just ask Coog HighRebel10 wrote:My goodness, no keys just play our game.

Okay now I see what's going on. The June to the death supports are preparing the SMU fans for the worst because a loss to an FCS team by a coach in his 5th year who everyone claims to have recruited these under the radar players would not bode to well going into the aTm game as well as the rest of the season. Good move to soften a potential blow but we still should not be outrecruited or outcoached by an FCS team.giacfsp wrote: I still think we win tomorrow, but it wouldn't shock me if we don't, and it wouldn't be a massive upset. Re: The key to beating SFA
I looked at their roster and saw that they aren't that big in the middle of the defensive line. Didn't realize that would prompt a conspiracy theory.
Re: The key to beating SFA
Again SMU should be outcoached, outrecruited or ourprepared by an FCS team period. I'll move on.
