I really like the focus on trying to make SMU somewhat synonymous with Dallas. I have been asked countless times across the country "where is SMU?". People across the country just don't know much about SMU or where it is, but people know Dallas. I wrote Steve Orsini years ago suggesting placing the word "Dallas" under the SMU logo as often as possible on things lke press conference backdrops, ect. It appears they have tried to do more of that. Dallas is one of the best known cities in the world, so SMU should try and use that as one of the ways to spread the SMU gospel. Moving to the Big East next year should really help put SMU on people's radar and an excellent opportunity to use Dallas as a way to promote SMU and make people associate SMU and Dallas.
I have been impressed with how many signs I have seen around town, but I am not impressed with the people who did not write anything into the white box. Looks pretty ridiculous from one direction to have a sign that says "SMU is 'white box'".

Why should those north of 635 but who have been in Dallas for a jillion years and give a ton of money and time to SMU have to pay for something you give for free to the Park City group. It defies reason but is typical of the narrow mindset at SMU when it comes to marketing.
