How long before this guy is a HC? Maybe even here if JJ retires. Thoughts?
Re: Kliff Kingsbury
It would be a huge risk for a program to take a chance on a first time head coach that young. Don't think it would happen until he had a lot of time in as the OC of a bigtime program.NY Pony wrote:How long before this guy is a HC? Maybe even here if JJ retires. Thoughts?
He'll probably get a job at a place like La Tech in the next couple of years. Dykes is probably going to be gone in 1-2 years to TTech or a place like SMU.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Kliff Kingsbury
Why him? Do you think he could hire a seasoned staff? There is a lot more to it than just calling plays although that is a big part of it along with the prep. I like Chad Morris. Offenses like Briles with a background in TX high schools in the golden triangle, north texas and austin areas might even recruit a few TX guys.. Call him Art Briles 2!

Theory - Head coaches tend to hire assistants that are pretty much just like themselves.
Bennett - east tx guys that couldnt coach but were perfectly fine in a bar fight
Jones - old teachers set in their ways, extremely confident in their system, right or wrong
Briles - lots of Tx ties and pretty hard nosed
Mack Brown - all show and no go
Patterson - also lots of tx ties, but kind of a [deleted]
Sumlin - recruit first, coach second
you get the theory....
